How to choose between 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel housing? What is the core difference between the two?
The choice depends on the corrosive intensity of the use environment:
304 stainless steel (18Cr-8Ni): Suitable for conventional indoor, dry or light outdoor environments (such as urban open-air scenes, ordinary industrial workshops), resistant to general rust and oxidation, but weak resistance to high-salt, high-chlorine or strong chemical environments.
316 stainless steel (16Cr-10Ni-2Mo): Molybdenum is added to significantly improve the corrosion resistance to chloride ions (such as seawater, salt water spray), acidic/alkaline chemicals, suitable for coastal areas, chemical workshops, food processing (need to contact with detergents) or marine equipment. Core difference: 316 is 2-3 times more corrosion-resistant than 304, especially in humid, salty or chemically polluted environments, but the cost is also slightly higher.
