1. Determine the usage scenario and purpose:
Data center or server room: If it is used to place servers, network equipment, etc., you need to choose a professional server cabinet. This type of cabinet usually has a good ventilation and heat dissipation design, such as front and rear mesh doors to ensure the heat dissipation needs of the equipment; there is a complete cable management system inside to facilitate the organization and management of a large number of cables; and it has a high load-bearing capacity to support the weight of equipment such as servers.
Industrial control environment: In industrial production, cabinets used to install industrial control equipment such as PLCs and inverters must have a higher protection level, such as IP54 or higher, to prevent the intrusion of dust, water and oil, and protect the normal operation of the equipment. At the same time, the cabinet's anti-vibration and anti-electromagnetic interference capabilities may also need to be considered.
Home or commercial audio-visual system: If it is used as an audio-visual equipment cabinet for home theater equipment or commercial venues, in addition to considering the equipment's accommodation space, it is also necessary to pay attention to the cabinet's aesthetics and coordination with the surrounding environment. You can choose a cabinet with exquisite appearance design and reasonable color matching, and pay attention to the cabinet's sound insulation effect to reduce the noise generated when the equipment is running.
2. Consider the size of the cabinet:
Equipment size: Measure the size of the equipment to be installed in the cabinet, including height, width and depth. Make sure there is enough space inside the cabinet to accommodate the equipment, and reserve a certain amount of space for equipment heat dissipation and maintenance operations. Generally speaking, the height of the server cabinet is measured in U (1U = 44.45 mm), and the common ones are 18U, 22U, 27U, 32U, 37U, 42U, etc. The appropriate number of cabinet Us should be selected according to the height of the equipment.
Installation space: Consider the actual space size of the cabinet installation, including the load-bearing capacity of the ground, the surrounding channel space, etc. Ensure that the cabinet will not affect the operation of personnel and the entry and exit of equipment after installation, and reserve enough space for ventilation and heat dissipation.
3. Evaluate the material and quality of the cabinet:
Material: Common cabinet materials include cold-rolled steel plate, stainless steel and aluminum alloy. Cold-rolled steel plates have high strength and cost-effectiveness, and are the preferred material for most cabinets; stainless steel cabinets have better corrosion resistance and are suitable for harsh environments; aluminum alloy cabinets are light and have good heat dissipation performance, but the cost is relatively high. Quality: Check the manufacturing process of the cabinet, such as whether the welding is firm, whether the surface treatment is flat and smooth, whether there are burrs on the corners, etc. High-quality cabinets should have good structural strength and stability, and be able to withstand the weight of the equipment and vibrations in daily use.
4. Pay attention to heat dissipation performance:
Heat dissipation method: Understand the heat dissipation method of the cabinet, such as fan heat dissipation, vent heat dissipation, etc. For cabinets that place equipment with high heat generation, such as server cabinets, it is recommended to choose cabinets with good heat dissipation design, equipped with a sufficient number of cooling fans, and ensure that the size and position of the vents are reasonable to promote air circulation.
Temperature control:
Some high-end cabinets are also equipped with temperature sensors and intelligent control systems, which can automatically adjust the fan speed according to the temperature in the cabinet, achieve more accurate temperature control, and ensure that the equipment operates in a suitable temperature environment.

5. Cable management capabilities:
Cable channel: Check whether there is a dedicated cable channel inside the cabinet, such as a cable trough, cable management rack, etc., to facilitate the arrangement and management of cables, make the cable layout more neat and orderly, and reduce the safety hazards and maintenance difficulties caused by cable chaos.
Cable entrances and exits: Ensure that the cabinet has enough cable entrances and exits, and the location is reasonable to facilitate the connection and introduction and extraction of cables.
Protection level: Depending on the use environment, choose a cabinet with a suitable protection level. For example, in a dry and clean indoor environment, an IP20 or IP30 protection level may be sufficient; while in an outdoor or dusty and humid environment, you need to choose a cabinet with an IP54, IP65 or even higher protection level.
6. Install and maintain floor-standing cabinets
Installation steps:
Preparation: Determine the installation location, ensure that the ground is flat and solid, and can bear the weight of the cabinet, and reserve enough space for operation and equipment heat dissipation. Prepare installation tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, levels, etc., and check whether the cabinet and accessories are complete and intact.
Carrying the cabinet: Carefully carry the cabinet to the designated location, and pay attention to avoid collision and damage during transportation. For heavier cabinets, it is recommended to use transportation equipment such as forklifts or manual hydraulic transport trucks.
Cabinet positioning: Use a level to adjust the level of the cabinet to ensure that the cabinet is in a horizontal state. If the ground is uneven, you can use gaskets to adjust it. Grounding treatment: Ground the cabinet to ensure that the grounding resistance of the cabinet meets the requirements. Grounding can effectively prevent damage to the equipment by static electricity and lightning strikes, and ensure the safety of equipment and personnel.
Maintenance points:
Daily cleaning: Clean the surface and interior of the cabinet regularly to remove dust and debris. You can use a clean soft cloth to wipe the surface of the cabinet, and use a vacuum cleaner to clean the dust inside. During the cleaning process, be careful to avoid water entering the cabinet to prevent damage to the equipment.
