How does the 316 stainless steel electrical cabinet protect against chloride corrosion?
The protection mechanism is based on a triple design:
Alloy component corrosion resistance: Molybdenum and chromium work together to form a more stable passivation film (Cr₂O₃・MoO₃), which prevents chloride ions from penetrating the metal surface.
Surface passivation treatment: Through electrolytic polishing or passivation liquid treatment, the thickness of the passivation film is increased from 5-10nm to 20-30nm, improving the chloride ion blocking ability.
Structural sealing: IP66/IP67 protection level design is adopted, and EPDM sealing strips are used to prevent salt spray and seawater from directly contacting the interior of the cabinet.
Data support: In the 3.5% sodium chloride solution spray test, the corrosion rate of the 316 cabinet after 1000 hours of testing is less than 0.01mm/year, which is much lower than 0.05mm/year of 304.
